The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone in your child’s academic journey. During this phase, consolidating and enhancing English proficiency is crucial for your child to confidently integrate and compete in a new environment.

The Cambridge Flyers Certificate is one of the most sought-after certifications by parents due to its prestige and high practical value. What benefits will your child receive by taking the Flyers exam? Let’s find out through this article.

OVERVIEW

What is a Flyers Certificate?

The A2 Flyers certificate is the highest level in the Cambridge YLE English language assessment system for primary school students, equivalent to level A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

The Flyers exam is designed to assess a child’s ability to communicate in English in everyday situations. The exam consists of three parts: Listening, Speaking, and Reading & Writing. Each part is scored on a scale of 1 to 5, and the highest total score a child can achieve is 15 points.

To earn a Flyers certificate, a child needs to score at least 10 points overall with no part of the exam scoring below 2 points. This certificate is valid permanently and is recognized by schools and institutions worldwide.

Why is Flyers Certificate?

The Flyers certificate is one of the priority criteria for admission to Grade 6 in many secondary schools. In 2024, students who want to get into a top-performing middle school, must have a Flyers certificate with the required number of shields. Additionally, the Flyers certificate can be used for admission to English-enhanced classes and integrated classes.

Studying for the Flyers exam is a great way to improve your child’s English skills comprehensively. Beyond the exam,  they can use these skills in everyday conversations, boosting confidence for other future international exams.
