The KET/PET preparation program at Stemhouse aims to provide students with a solid foundation in English, helping them confidently take these exams and achieve high scores. Through scientifically designed lessons, students will comprehensively practice Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills.

The main goal of the course is to familiarize students with the structure and format of the KET/PET exams. With in-class instruction, mid-term tests, and simulated KET/PET exams at the end of each term, students will get used to the types of questions, time management, and essential skills needed for each type of question.

Program Structure:

Course Duration:

• KET Program: 6 months
• Schedule: 2 sessions per week, 2 hours per session
• Course length: 2 terms (1 term = 3 months)
• PET Program: 9 months
• Schedule: 2 sessions per week, 2 hours per session
• Course length: 3 terms (1 term = 3 months)

KET PROGRAM

Entry Requirements for Students Participating in the KET Program:

• Course 1: If the student has taken the Flyers exam and scored 12 shields or higher based on the Flyers test scores. If the student has not taken the Flyers exam, they will take a KET mock entry test and must achieve a score between 100 and 119
• Course 2: Achieve a score of 120 or higher (based on the KET mock entry test)
• Guaranteed outcome: A2 – B1 (achieve a score between 133 and 150)

PET PROGRAM

Entry Requirements for Students Participating in the PET Program:

• Course 1: Score of 120 or higher (based on the PET mock entry test)
• Course 2: Score of 140 or higher
• Course 3: Score of 150 or higher
• Guaranteed outcome: B1 – B2 (achieve a score between 150 and 170)

The KET/PET preparation program is designed and guided by Dr. Bui Nguyen Khanh, who studied and graduated in TESOL in the U.S. With over 10 years of experience in English teaching, Dr. Khanh will incorporate a global perspective on English teaching methods and exam preparation into the KET/PET program at Stemhouse.

Specifically, instead of covering all the necessary content at once, this teaching method is designed to distribute the material evenly throughout the program. Each time the content is reviewed, students will reinforce their knowledge and advance their learning. This approach allows students to naturally retain information and apply their skills comprehensively with a solid foundation.

Teaching Materials:

The KET/PET preparation program uses Cambridge’s book system and well-structured materials prepared by the Stemhouse Academic Team. All materials are designed based on real exam structures and formats to familiarize students with the exam types and improve their test-taking skills.

Mid-Term and Final Assessments:

To accurately evaluate student proficiency and prepare for the official exam, each 3-month course includes a mid-term test and a mock KET/PET exam. These mock exams help students familiarize themselves with the test format, practice skills, and build confidence. Results from these tests will help teachers assess each student’s progress and provide detailed feedback, offering appropriate support to address any weaknesses.

If students do not achieve the target scores set by the center and parents, teachers will provide personalized support, including extra practice and reinforcement of weaker areas, until significant progress is made. The teaching team will also offer effective study methods to improve scores.
