TEACHING MATH BY APPLYING CPA METHOD
For children studying in an international bilingual education environment, learning Math in English is one of the mandatory programs. But, not all parents are willing to let their children study. OVERVIEW OF CPA METHOD
CPA is Singapore’s famous Math teaching method, short for Concrete – Pictorial – Abstract, developed based on research on children’s cognitive development with 3 steps:
- Concrete: absorb by action
- Pictorial: absorbing through images
- Abstract: absorbed by mathematical symbols
Many countries around the world have applied CPA so that students can possess a strong foundation of Math knowledge, gain deeper understanding and become proficient in Math. And that is also the philosophy behind the success of mathematics in many countries around the world. And at the same time, it is replicated in Math teaching at many schools around the world.
