MTO

For the past 10 years, Stemhouse has developed a comprehensive learning program and assembled a team of expert teachers. Using this foundation, we have been conducting regular Mock Test Opens (MTO) to prepare students for the entrance exams of top schools in Ho Chi Minh City, including Tran Dai Nghia, Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu, Binh Tho, and Nguyen Huu Tho.

Stemhouse’s Expert Board continuously updates and refines the mock exams for Tran Dai Nghia and other top schools to align with the latest exam formats, ensuring students are well-prepared for the actual exam. The MTO exams feature both multiple-choice and essay questions.

What’s in the Grade 6 Mock Test (MTO) at Stemhouse?

Exam administration procedures

To ensure a realistic and serious testing environment, the MTO exam is modeled after the actual exam in all aspects, including organization and administration procedures. Candidates will receive an official registration form (just like on the actual exam day). Each exam room will have two invigilators responsible for providing instructions and supervising the exam regulations. Additionally, two hallway invigilators will be on duty outside the exam room to assist students if needed.

By closely simulating the real exam experience, Stemhouse’s practice exams not only assess students’ knowledge but also prepare them mentally for the actual exam, thereby helping students build confidence and alleviate test anxiety.

Beyond providing direct support to students before and during the practice exam, Stemhouse’s grading panel, including academic staff and subject teachers, will work closely with the Academic Board to ensure accurate grading and an accurate assessment of each student’s abilities. Furthermore, detailed feedback will be provided in class to help parents and students identify their strengths and weaknesses and develop targeted study strategies.

  • Preparing Mentally for the Exam: By becoming accustomed to the exam format and procedures, students can reduce test anxiety and approach the actual exam with a calm and collected demeanor.
  • Improving Exam Skills: Through the development and refinement of key test-taking skills, including time management, strategic question selection, and effective answering strategies, students can maximize their exam scores.

Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: Identifying strengths and weaknesses in knowledge and skills enables students to tailor their study efforts accordingly. This targeted approach optimizes exam preparation and leads to better outcomes.

MTO1 – The first practice exam organized in the 2024-2025 academic year

Designed to reinforce knowledge from the GP5 Gifted Program, this exam will synthesize key concepts to help students review and familiarize themselves with question formats. It will also include 30% new question types and advanced topics to challenge students and promote higher-order thinking skills such as creativity, logic, and problem-solving.

In subsequent MTO exams throughout the year, the difficulty level will gradually increase to assess students’ actual academic performance and enhance their knowledge, skills, and mindset.

What should students prepare for the mock test

Practice exams play a crucial role in preparing students for the grade 6 entrance exam. They help students assess their abilities, develop test-taking skills, and refine their study strategies. To excel in practice exams, students should keep the following in mind:

  • Ensure a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts in Math, Vietnamese, and English.
  • Regularly work on various types of exercises, with a particular emphasis on concepts that you need improvement.
  • Learn and apply effective test-taking strategies including: reading questions thoroughly, highlighting key information, creating outlines (when needed), working through problems carefully, and reviewing your answers before submitting.

In addition to the above, students should also review their materials, practice exams, and previous years’ official exams to understand the exam structure and difficulty level. To practice, students can work on previous exams from Trần Đại Nghĩa High School dating back to 2016, as well as sample exams from schools that follow advanced and internationally integrated curricula, such as the key schools in Thu Duc City and Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School in District 7.
