“RIDING THE WIND” – RESEARCH & PRACTICE WORKSHOP ON THE TOPIC “AIRPLANE” ONLY AT STEMHOUSE
Summer is coming and entertainment activities become more exciting than ever. Day workshop is the top choice of parents because of its convenience and effectiveness. Children not only meet friends and participate in interesting activities, but also take advantage of “pocketing” a lot of necessary knowledge and life skills. Understanding that psychology, Stemhouse brings the latest STEM Workshop with an extremely attractive airplane theme for young “scientists”.
OVERVIEW INFORMATION
“𝑹𝑰𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑾𝑰𝑵𝑫” – Conquering the Wind – is the latest workshop at Stemhouse revolving around topics about the world’s aviation industry. This workshop is an opportunity for students to explore their passion for science and technology in general and aircraft in particular. From there, students have more experience in future career orientation.
Coming to the workshop, for the first time I learned how to design airplane wings in-depth and methodically based on aerodynamic principles. What’s more interesting, after completing the product and decorating the wings to your liking, you will directly test the “mini” plane with wings you made yourself on the launch pad. How high and how far can my plane take off? Let’s test it together in the upcoming colorful scientific space!
WHAT ACTIVITIES DO CHILDREN EXPERIENCE IN STEM WORKSHOP?
With a duration of 3 hours of the workshop, your child will enter the world of professional science, serious but also full of excitement. The journey of “conquering the wind” of talented inventors will go through the following activities:
- Learn about the aviation and aircraft manufacturing industry, thereby exploring career opportunities.
- Learn about the EDP design process and learn how to apply it to future personal projects.
- Tea break
- Design (with drawings) and assemble an engine-less glider wing.
- Flight testing and product optimization.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
- Time: Saturday, August 10, 2024.
- Duration: 3 hours.
- Location: Stemhouse Him Lam, District 7.
- Target audience: Students in grades 6-12.
The number of participants is limited, so parents should quickly register to receive unexpected incentives.
STE(A)M ELEMENTS IN THE WORKSHOP
Stemhouse’s activities always aim at the goal of systematic and quality STEM education for students. Therefore, the “Riding The Wind” workshop is also built with the following STE(A)M elements:
•
- Mathematics: Students can use basic and advanced mathematical formulas to calculate aircraft mass, and apply Physics formulas.
- Science: Students learn Bernoulli’s Law, center of gravity distribution, moment and lever arm, horizontal throwing problem, lift force formula.
- Engineering: Students learn about the parts of an aircraft, how they work, and their role in the aircraft. In addition, students build a basic understanding of aircraft designs as well as practice basic engineering design processes (EDP).
- Technology: Students learn about some advanced NASA aircraft models and practice some simulation software in aeronautical engineering.
- Arts: Students design and decorate their own aircraft according to personal preferences.
Besides the STE(A)M goal, the workshop is also an opportunity for children to hone their communication and collaboration skills. Through learning knowledge along with practice, children can enhance critical thinking and maximize creativity.
WHY CAN “RIDING THE WIND” BE CONSIDERED AS THE EXCLUSIVE WORKSHOP OF STEMHOUSE?
PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER AND ADVISOR
Le Minh Duc
Student at Johns Hopkins University, USA
- Won the international ISEF special prize – a prestigious scientific and technical innovation competition.
- Former student of Math Specialist Le Hong Phong.
- Stemhouse alumni.
Originating from his childhood hobby, Le Minh Duc’s passion for airplanes was nurtured and developed through participating in science application activities right in class. Through the process of exploration and discovery along with effort and diligence, Le Minh Duc has achieved many achievements at a very young age. Now is the time for Minh Duc to spread the joy of science and practical values to young people.
MSc. Nguyen Le Duc Thinh
Deputy Director of Professional Stemhouse
- Doctoral student at Korea University, Korea.
- Bachelor of Physics Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
- Master of Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Physics, University of Natural Sciences – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
With 7 years of experience teaching international primary and secondary schools, MSc. Nguyen Le Duc Thinh has accompanied and guided many generations of students on the path of developing knowledge and skills. With a remarkable track record in the field of scientific research, Mr. Thinh will certainly bring to this workshop a scientific space full of professionalism but no less excitement.
QUALITY OF TEACHING
In addition to the presence of two extremely excellent young speakers, Stemhouse is proud to be an organizer of STEM activities with high quality standards consulted and recognized by STEM.ORG – a prestigious world organization specializing in STEM activities. STEM program accreditation.
When participating in the workshop, students will gradually approach scientific research as well as STEM/STEAM research, and practice the EDP technical process methodically according to international standards. Besides, this is an opportunity for students to explore their own interests and career tendencies, thereby creating a suitable learning path for the future.
